Kardinal John Henry Newman hat in einer seiner Predigten sehr sch\u00f6n seine Hoffnung auf Christus zum Ausdruck gebracht:<\/p>\n<p>&#8222;M\u00f6ge es uns beschieden sein, im Lauf der Jahre Gnade auf Gnade zu h\u00e4ufen und Stufe um Stufe emporzusteigen, ohne die tiefere zu \u00fcbersehen, nachdem man die h\u00f6here erreicht hat, oder die h\u00f6here zu erstreben, bevor man die tiefere erreicht hat.<\/p>\n<p>Die erste Tugend ist der Glaube, die letzte die Liebe; zuerst kommt der Eifer, darnach kommt die Liebensw\u00fcrdigkeit. Zuerst kommt die Verdem\u00fctigung, dann kommt der Friede; zuerst kommt die Bereitschaft, dann die Ergebung.
